[Takes a small sip from a can of beer] Hey guys! You know what? I’m a writer! How do you picture cars? Well I’ve got my drawing board and I’ll just walk around and draw all kinds of crazy stuff! [laughs] It’s fun to make that leap of logic. I’m actually a motorhead. That’s just how I look at myself. I mean, you know, there’s a certain type of car that looks cool, and there’s a certain type of car that looks cool. So I just draw that type of car. [laughs] I’ll write on my blog some of my inspirations. My favorite is an old car that looks like it’s going to have a terrible accident, and I like to draw it as the accident is going down.
What’s the worst thing you’ve ever done?
I did this project a couple years ago, called “My Dog,” and I was working on it around 8 or 9 in the morning, and I walked around and drew a bunch of characters, and then I was like… I don’t know if I am gonna take this down… and I did an illustration… I’ve always thought it’d be fun to do some illustrations of myself. They could be a nice excuse to draw a lot of illustrations of myself because I’m good at drawing my favorite characters.
I thought, for the best, I’d do a drawing, just with something I can say, “I drew this and this and this.” As a kid, I used to draw my brother’s drawings, and now I don’t do that anymore. I just do drawings of characters. I love doing that, and I feel like it’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to me. But I guess if I were to go back in time it would be… I know they say don’t look back, but I’m always looking forward! I was a cartoonist so a lot of times I did a bunch of stories set in the past like, “My mom told you not to look back!” I mean, my mom was always kind of telling me that and so I think I’ve taken that really seriously.
