A film education includes theory as well as practice, taking into account the unique needs of each student. In film classrooms there are numerous opportunities for students to take online classes or to take classes in person with other students, faculty and staff during school hours.

How do I qualify to enroll in a film school?

To receive full-tuition credits you must be accepted to at least a high quality film school with a focus on film editing, filmmaking, documentary, animation, visual effects, etc.

You must be a registered student in the program that you want to enroll at. When you are accepted to a film school, you submit an Application for the 2018-19 season. You need to provide your academic details. To find out more about the application process, click here.

How much is tuition?

Tuition is paid for in full by students. It includes room and board and transportation to and from school. It does not include room and board after school hours for students from low income families.

How do I schedule my film class?

If you plan to attend a film school in Austin, you should look into a program at the Austin Film Institute. They are nationally and locally competitive, and offer a wide variety of classes and options. Students attend at least 45 credits in their program year, a good deal if you plan to start right after coming home from school.

Filming and shooting for your finished project

The entire film editing process

You will receive a list of materials such as films, cameras, crew, equipment, props, etc., after you have applied and been accepted

You will be assigned a supervisor for the duration of the session and be encouraged to meet weekly with your supervisor to discuss your film as it moves along
