How big is the YouTube Ad market?
There’s been a lot of talk about Google’s AdWords market during the AdWords boom of 2009-10.
Most AdWords spending during that time was in the £2-10million band.
A lot of money was spent in the US (where Google AdWords was launched) and the UK – especially over the last few months. US Google Adwords spending averaged $3.7million (£2.5million) per month during that time.
The UK Adwords market also saw some great growth during the last couple of months. It was the second highest global spend on advertising across Google AdWords.
There was no slowdown in British AdWords spending so much of this is likely due to the recent move to £0.25 per 1,000 people.
This has prompted advertisers to get aggressive with using AdWords this year, with some having even started to place AdWords at the end of their videos to get the most conversion rates possible.
There’s not too much hard data on YouTube Ad spending, but I think we can say that the £1.0 per 1,000 UK viewers figure is likely a good rough guideline of what can be expected over the next couple of months.
