2.) If you want to make it look like they drew it, make sure your drawing style will work with the style they originally used. This should go without saying, but I think a lot of people forget that just because a subject was drawn in the same style, doesn’t mean it should look like that style. So for example, let’s say that I had drawing “A” that looked very natural, but the drawing is also a work of an artist that I want to emulate: If you are an illustrator who likes abstract work, you can draw as if someone is drawing a flower, or a tree. If you are an illustrator who likes traditional art, try drawing as if a painting is being done.
3.) Have your style follow the artist’s style. Let’s say you wanted to draw the same scene (a forest, etc.) as the one the illustrator used, but when you started your drawing you wanted to make it look more “original” by drawing it in just a few different styles instead of using each and every style that the original artist used.
4.) Your style should be similar to the style the artist uses. This means a lot of things, like the shapes, colors, shadows, etc. But it really all depends on your personal taste and skills. In the end, just follow the style that the artist used.
5.) When you see someone draw the same type of scene, it’s really hard to tell between the two for whatever reason. If this is the case, take a look at their “work.” If there is a difference, then it’s almost impossible to tell. To me, you can tell the difference because I see the difference between a scene from a child’s game and a painting, while the artist I compare them to sees the difference between a painting and a picture book.
