Graphite pencils are a relatively new product that are available now. With so many different types of graphite pencils on the market, manufacturers often choose to include various additives to improve their pencils’ performance.
How much pencil is too much?
According to research conducted by researchers at the Department of Biotechnology, there is no rule that says pencil manufacturers must include a certain amount of graphite. However, many manufacturers insist on having specific amounts of pencil powder. For instance, some manufacturers use 20 percent by weight of graphite. Others, however, may use an amount that is as low as 1-1.5 percent by weight of material.
How do manufacturers test pencils?
There are several ways that pencil manufacturers test for accuracy. These tests measure the pencil’s ability to write the letters or words that they are supposed to write for a certain period of time. The process of measuring this period is called photometric testing.
What does photometric testing mean?
Photometric testing was developed specifically to test pencils that contain more graphite compared to other materials. A photograph is taken of the end of the pencil and then the end of the pencil is inserted into one end of a spectrophotometer. The instrument measures the light reflected off of the surface of the pencil against a light sensor that measures ultraviolet (UV) light. This light is then measured by the spectrophotometer. It is this measurement that determines whether the pencil has absorbed light at a specified wavelength, or whether the pencil is absorbing at a specific wavelength.
The standard pencils that are measured are those that contain 50 percent to 85 percent graphite. While you will need to be more careful than others when using these pencils, it is still important to make sure that these materials are used correctly.
How is there an impact on the life of a graphite pencil?
With all the changes that have occurred in pencils in the past 10 years, the life of a pencil that has been used for many years will definitely be affected by how it is balanced and the amount of graphite added to it or it’s used because of this.
Can you find your pencil before it is lost or destroyed?
The most commonly used pencils are the graphite ones. The problem I had recently is due to a pencil that I had previously had. As a result, this pencil was no longer used in school and it has since disappeared from the market. There is
