For my first book I used a pretty wide range of pencils. However, it is only one section of sketches, and so more pencils will be included in the text. I didn’t try to pick favorites, but I’ll do my best to keep it as simple as possible. For the most part I went with standard pencils in other areas, as that seems to be the most common.

However, the pencil I used for my own projects is the Bic 5776, which I find to be my favorite and has become the standard pencil for me. It is available in multiple formats including a wet and dry. The wet version can be wet-lined or filled with black ink.

I like using pencils in pairs (as they are better at working in two pieces to reduce the risk of rubbing out), so I generally buy both wet and dry versions, but the price difference is relatively small, so keep that in mind when choosing.
